Surah Al-Quraish
Surah quraish is a Meccan surah that was revealed in mecca before the migration of Muhammad PBUH to Medinah, its order in the Quran is 106 and its verses are 4. In the hadith narrated by a Muslim in his Sahih from the hadith of Abu Hurairah – may God be pleased with him -: that the Prophet -PBUH – said: “Allah will say to the servant on the Day of Resurrection: didn’t I honor you and make you a master, give you in marriage, subject horses and camels to you, and let you rule he says(the servant): Yes, and Allah says: Did you think(belief) you would meet me? He says: No, Allah says: I will forget you as you forgot me.
Surah Quraish is about this meaning, people who get used to the graces that Allah bestowed over them and forgot thanking god for his blessings.

Surah Al-Quraish in English Meaning
1-the first verse’s meaning is for the accustomed security of the Quraysh, and the word le illaf is an Arabic noun from the verb (Alifa) which means get used to.
2-Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer.
3-Let them(Allah’s command) worship the Lord of this House.
4-Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.

Blessings between gratitude and denial
verses no 1 and 2
The Quraish tribe gets used to getting out in two caravans the first one is in winter, they used to go to Yemen, because it’s suitable for the winter season, to buy perfumes and spices from India.
The other caravan is to the Levant in summer To buy and sell agricultural grain crops.
Allah said in surat al Qasas verse 57
(Have we not established for them a safe sanctuary to which are brought the fruits of all things as provision from Us? But most of them do not know)
This barren and rocky land had no water to drink or to harvest the different crops to eat or feed their animals, but Allah blessed their land because of some reasons:
1-Their neighborhood to the sacred house.
2-the supplication of Ibraham as came in verse no 126 in Al Baqarah surah:
“My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits – whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day.”
3-the prophet PBUH was born into the Quraish tribe.
The blessing of security is the greatest blessing:
Verses 3 and 4
As we mentioned, the Quraish tribe was blessed so what are the blessings that they had:
- The great place between all tribes of the Arabian peninsula.
- This special position guaranteed them security, although the caravans of the other tribes were attacked by thieves and bandits.
- This security guaranteed trade activity, buying and selling different goods.
So in verses, no 3 and 4 Allah reminded them that he is the giver of all these blessings and they must worship him.
This meaning was clear also in surat Annahl verse no 112
And Allah presents an example: a city that was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allah. So Allah made it taste(experience) the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.
Why Was Surah Quraish Revealed?
Surah quraish was revealed in the Quraish tribe, this tribe that Allah endowed with different kinds of blessings, and when the prophet PBUH proclaimed Islam, pride seized them and they forgot what Allah had bestowed upon them.
This surah is a statement and a warning that the continuity of blessings is from its gratitude.
Benefits of Surah Al-Quraish
Although lilafi quraish surah is one of the smallest surahs in the Quran, Quran Spirit has provides some benefits and contemplations as follows:
1-security is a great blessing from Allah as the prophet PBUH said in the authentic hadith:
Whoever among you becomes safe in his flock, healthy in his body, has the sustenance of his day, it is as if the whole world has been possessed for him.”
2-the continuity of the blessings is depending on their gratitude, also Allah said in surah Ibraham verse 7:
And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.”
3-as gratitude is a kind of worship, persistence in doing good deeds will keep our blessings in the world life and special status in the life after as Allah said in surat annahl verse 97:
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer – We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
4-as disbelieving is the greatest sin, doing sins without repenting of them will lead to the demise of the blessings as the prophet PBUH said:
“Nothing averts destiny except supplication, and nothing increases life except righteousness, and a man is deprived of sustenance because of a sin that befalls him.”

- The first step of memorizing any surah of the Quran is to evoke the virtues of memorizing Quran in this world and the hereafter, that the Quran reciter is one of Allah’s beloved people.

- Searching for licensed Shiekh to learn Quran and memorizing between his hands, as learning Quran from the beginning is so much easier than correcting the wrong memorizing.
- Recite the recent memorizing portion in all the daily prayers, especially the night prayer.
