Quranic Duas to Add to Your Dua List for Umrah
1. Dua for Repentance and Acceptance of Worship
When you are at the pilgrimage sites, you will indulge in endless acts of worship and duas. Even though you have pure intentions and have made your goals clear, asking the Almighty to accept all your acts of worship is essential. So, while you are participating in immense dhikrs and acts of worship, you can recite the following supplication to ask the Almighty to accept it.
Rabbana taqabbal minna, innaka Antas-Sami’ul-‘Aleem.
“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127)
This is the dua of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Ismail (AS) when they were building the house of the Almighty on His command. You can also recite it while you stand in the same landmark, performing rituals that represent Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his family in numerous ways.
2. Dua for Forgiveness and Mercy
Most of the time of the pilgrims is spent in asking for the forgiveness and mercy of the Almighty. We know that we are nothing without His mercy. Being able to yield His mercy can transform your life, and it is the primary goal of all the pilgrims. Not only that, the pilgrimage is also all about a chance at redemption. It gives you a chance to get all your sins forgiven and start your life anew with a clean slate. You can recite the following supplication from the Holy Quran to ask for the forgiveness and mercy of the Almighty.
Rabbana ẓalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarḥamna lanakūnanna min al-khasireen.
“Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.” (Surah Al-A’raf 7:23)
3. Dua for Guidance and Steadfastness
During the pilgrimage, everyone gets a chance to self-reflect and ask for guidance from the Almighty when they feel closest to Him. This is the perfect time to reflect on your steadfastness in the religion and ponder how you can be a better Muslim.
Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba‘da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka Antal-Wahhab.
“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Bestower.” (Surah Aal-Imran 3:8)
This supplication is all about asking the Almighty for guidance and to give us the strength to be steadfast in it.
4. Dua for a Good Life and the Hereafter
A believer can never ask for goodness in this life only. We yearn for the goodness in this life and the life hereafter, too. There is a heartwarming dua in the Holy Quran that our beloved Prophet, Muhammad (SAW), also recited while performing Tawaf, between the Yemeni corner and the Black stone.
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qina ‘adhaban-nar.
“Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:201)
5. Dua for Entering a State of Peace and Sincerity
Pilgrimage is all about entering a state of peace and sincerity. Before pilgrims embark on the spiritual retreat, they have to purify themselves and enter the state of Ihram. After the pilgrimage, you must also ask the Almighty to keep you pure and peaceful throughout your life. Here is a Quranic supplication that you can recite.
Rabbi adkhilni mudkhala sidqin wa akhrijni mukhraja sidqin waj‘al li min ladunka sultanan naseera.
