Ijazah in Quran Recitation

Quran Recitation with Ijazah (Reading)

And can be given by an Imam or scholar who is already certified (endless chain).

After reciting (reading) the whole Quran with Tajweed in the presence of a licensed instructor, the student receives this certificate.

Memorization of the Quran with Ijazah (Hifz)

Ijazah for Quran Memorization (Hifz) is a certification that allows the bearer to teach Quran Memorization (Hifz) to others.

An already certified Imam or scholar

 can give it.

The Ijazah System’s History

Since the year 100 A.H. (700 CE), “Ijazah” has been certification and permission provided by:

  • A higher religious authority permits its possessor to convey a specific text.
  • Or the subject of knowledge is usually an indirect student of the Prophet Muhammad.
  • A famous Muslim scholar.

“Sanad” refers to an unbroken chain of certified transmitters that can be traced back to the original author.
